Our goal is to push students to learn math a higher level and more deeply than just memorizing a set of steps to solve a division problem. You may hear your child talk about "Math Mindset". This is a list of truths that research shows leads to the greatest growth in math students.
All Students Can Achieve Math at High Levels
It's no longer acceptable for students to say that they aren't a "math person".
Time Doesn't Matter
Faster doesn't mean better. In fact, some of the greatest mathematicians are incredibly slow. You may be fast, you may be slow. Work at whichever pace is best for you.
Having a Growth Mindset Gives You a Boost
Students who believe they can get better are more likely to get better. Quit worrying about how much time it takes you to understand the skill. Instead, come to class committed to do whatever it takes, because you CAN learn it.
Mistakes and Struggle Actually Make Your Brain Grow More
Students that are challenged and get stuck show more brain activity than a student that understands the problem right away. If you aren't struggling a little, you aren't pushing yourself enough.
